UPDATED 04/07/2022 - per Chris Yeager, digital copies of the notification map are accepted formats for intial filing. If the applicant sumbits a digital copy of the package at initial filing, the file will be marked as "incomplete" and hard copy labels will be requested for the next review step. Express Mapping will send digital files of all work at the time of completion. We will also mail a set of labels unless requested by the client otherwise.

Full Description from the city package (City of Costa Mesa)
Public Notification Requirements:

A.  Radius Map: This map shall show the subject property and all properties within a 500-foot radius. Assessor parcel numbers must be shown on all affected properties.

B.  Mailing Labels: Submit two (2) sets of typewritten mailing labels & one (1) photocopy. A mailing label is required for every property that is within the 500-foot radius (either wholly or partially). The mailing label must contain the assessor parcel number above the name of the owner and applicable address. Property owner names and addresses shall be obtained from the latest available County of Orange assessment rolls.

C.  Certification Letter: The person who prepared the radius map and mailing labels shall write and sign a letter certifying that the information is true and accurate.



Applications for the construction of a building(s) one hundred fifty (150) feet or more in height require a greater notice radius. 

Building Height in Feet (151-224) requires 700 foot radius

Building Height in Feet (225-300) requires 900 foot radius

Building Height in Feet (300+) requires 1100 foot radius

Cannabis Order Includes:
Assessor's Parcel Map(s). The map needs to depict the subject location and all parcels within 1,200 feet of the proposed storefront premise. This map shall identify the location of all uses currently operating from which a separation requirement is specified in the CMMC for a cannabis use:

• K-12 schools (public and private): 1,000 feet
• Child daycare facilities: 1,000 feet
• Homeless shelters: 1,000 feet
• Playground: 1,000
• Youth Center: 600 feet
